Terms of service for browser background removal
These terms cover using the free background remover, your source-image permissions, downloadable cutouts and the limits of local image editing.
Using the free browser background remover
These terms apply to picturebackgroundremover.org, which operates under the name Picture Background Remover. The website provides browser-based image editing tools. Using a tool means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the website.
Your photo rights and permission to edit images
You retain any rights you hold in your original images. You are responsible for having permission to edit, use and publish them. Do not use the tools to infringe copyright, violate privacy, impersonate others, facilitate harassment or create unlawful material. The service does not grant rights in an image that you did not already have.
AI cutout quality and background removal limits
AI masks are predictions. Background removal may omit useful details, retain unwanted objects or create rough edges. Review each result before using it. White and green removal may erase matching colors inside the subject. Device memory, browser support, network access for initial model downloads and source-image quality affect performance.
Inputs are limited to 25 MB and 25 megapixels per picture. The editor also limits the number and combined pixel size of pictures held in a session. These limits help manage memory; they do not guarantee that every accepted file can be processed on every device.
The GIF tool edits a still frame and does not preserve animation. The SVG tool renders a raster image and does not export editable vector paths. Background blur is a visual editing effect and should not be used as a secure redaction method.
Transparent image downloads and local editing sessions
Save important results before leaving the page. The application does not provide cloud storage, backup or recovery for your editing session. Keep your original files and check downloaded files before deleting any source material.
PNG and WebP can preserve a transparent background. JPG cannot preserve transparency; transparent areas are flattened onto an opaque background, which can be a color, photo or blurred scene. Image processing happens in your browser, while model and website downloads still make network requests. The local image processing privacy policy explains these requests and browser storage.
Free background remover access and availability
The current tools are available without an account or payment. We may update, change or discontinue a feature. We do not promise uninterrupted access, a fixed processing time or compatibility with every browser and device.
Third-party image processing software and links
The site uses open-source libraries and AI model assets. Their applicable licenses govern those components. Links to third-party documentation or services are provided for context; those sites have their own policies and terms.
Image editing results and warranty limits
To the extent allowed by applicable law, the tools are provided as available without a warranty that every result will be accurate, fit a particular purpose or meet a third party's publishing requirements. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that applicable law does not permit to be excluded.
Terms updates and questions about image editing
The date above identifies this version. Continued use after an update is subject to the updated terms. For questions about the tools or these terms, use the background remover support page. The image download and processing FAQ provides practical help with supported files and exports.
