Background remover FAQ: transparent PNG, privacy and file limits

Transparent PNG downloads and supported image formats

Why does a transparent PNG look white in my image viewer?

Some viewers place transparent pixels over a white canvas. Select Transparent in the editor and export PNG or WebP, then place the file over a colored background in a design app to check it. The editor's checkerboard is only a preview and is not included in the download.

Should I download my background removal as PNG, WebP or JPG?

Choose PNG for a transparent cutout you plan to reuse in slides or a design. WebP can also preserve transparency where the destination supports it. Choose JPG for a photo with a solid or replacement background. JPG cannot store transparent pixels, so transparent areas receive a white fill unless you choose another background.

Which photos need conversion before background removal?

JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF are accepted photo inputs, subject to browser decoding support. Convert HEIC or RAW files to a supported format first. The dedicated SVG workflow creates raster output, and GIF editing produces a still image. Each input must fit the 25 MB and 25-megapixel limits.

Does Original size export guarantee the original edge detail?

No. Original size keeps an accepted image's canvas dimensions, but the AI predicts the foreground from a smaller representation and scales the mask back up. Thin lines, fine hair and transparent material can still lose detail. Inspect those areas against contrasting backgrounds and use the restore brush if needed.

AI model loading, local photo processing and batch limits

What can I try when the background remover is stuck loading?

The first AI edit downloads model files before processing starts. Leave the tab open and read the progress message. If a download error appears, check your connection and whether an extension blocks the model host. Download any completed edits before refreshing. A smaller photo or batch may help if the browser reports a memory error.

Does local photo processing mean the editor makes no network requests?

No. Loading the website and downloading AI model or runtime files still make network requests. Your selected photo and cutout are processed on your device and are not included in model-download requests. Hosts can receive ordinary request information such as your IP address and browser details.

How many images can I remove backgrounds from in one batch?

The editor allows up to 50 files and a combined 75-megapixel session budget. Each picture must also meet the individual size limits. Large photos can reach the session budget before you reach 50 files, and device memory can impose lower practical limits. Images run one at a time; download finished results before removing them from the queue.

Which settings are used for a batch background removal ZIP?

Download all exports the completed images using the current background, format, quality and width settings. With several completed results it creates a ZIP; with one result it downloads that picture. Review each cutout first. Failed or unfinished queue items are not included in that download.

Fixing cutout edges and choosing a background removal tool

How can I restore part of a person removed by the AI?

Open the refine brush and choose Restore to bring back pixels from the original picture. Use a small brush around hair, fingers or clothing, then switch to Erase for leftover background. The AI identifies the main foreground; for a group photo, crop the source around the intended person before adding it if necessary.

When should I use white background removal instead of AI?

Use the white background remover for a logo, scan or graphic on a fairly plain white canvas. It removes near-white areas connected to the image border and provides a tolerance control. Enclosed white spaces can remain, and white subject details connected to the border can be affected. AI is often a better starting point for a photograph with a distinct subject.

Can I change a product photo to white instead of transparent?

Yes. Remove the original backdrop, select the white swatch and export PNG, JPG or WebP. The white background tool starts with that color selected. Review the product outline and check the destination's current image requirements yourself; a white fill alone does not guarantee marketplace acceptance.

Can I recover an image after closing or refreshing the editor?

The application has no cloud gallery or editing-session recovery. Keep your original files and download results before leaving or refreshing the page. Cached AI model files can speed up a future visit, but they are separate from the pictures in your editing session.

Choose the right background removal tool

Use the AI image background remover for photographs, white background remover for clean white graphics, and green screen remover for a color-keyed backdrop. To put a product on white, choose White Background.

For a cutout that will go into another design, follow the JPG to transparent PNG workflow. For a queue of photos, use the batch background remover. If these answers do not resolve an error, see background remover troubleshooting and support. Details about network requests appear in the image processing privacy policy.
