Privacy policy for local image background removal

This image background remover processes your pictures on your device. This policy explains image handling, model downloads, browser storage and the network requests needed to use the editor.

How your photos stay local during background removal

This website operates under the name Picture Background Remover at picturebackgroundremover.org and processes selected images in your browser. The application does not send your image files or generated cutouts to an image-processing server. The editor holds images in the current browser tab while you work. Download the results you want to keep before closing or refreshing the page.

AI model downloads and third-party network requests

The AI mode downloads model weights and processing software on first use through our model-download domain, hosted on Cloudflare. If that download source is unavailable, the application can try a configured mirror, Hugging Face and its content delivery network for model files, or jsDelivr for processing software. These hosting providers receive standard request information, such as your IP address, browser details and the requested asset URL. The image you selected is not included in these model-download requests. Color-based white and green removal do not require the AI model.

Third-party providers apply their own privacy policies. You can review the Cloudflare privacy policy for our download domain, the Hugging Face privacy policy for fallback model-hosting requests and the jsDelivr privacy policy for fallback runtime delivery. A configured mirror uses its own hosting provider.

Website hosting requests and operational information

Loading the website sends ordinary web requests to the hosting provider. Hosting and security systems may record request metadata, including IP address, request time, browser or user agent, requested path and error information. Website example and showcase images are also delivered from our asset domain on Cloudflare. The asset domains check request origin or referring website information to limit hotlinking. This is separate from processing your picture locally. We do not describe these ordinary requests as anonymous.

Cached AI models and local browser preferences

Your browser may cache downloaded AI assets to avoid downloading them on every visit. The website stores your selected light or dark theme in local storage when you change it. Browser storage controls can remove that preference and cached assets. Depending on your browser, model-host caches may have separate storage controls. The application does not provide a server-side gallery or account history.

Analytics, advertising and accounts

This version of the website does not load Google AdSense ads, set advertising cookies or run an analytics service. It has no account system or payment system. If advertising or analytics is introduced, we will update this policy to identify the providers, explain their data use and provide the applicable consent and privacy choices before enabling those features.

Images you select, drop or paste into the editor

The editor uses image files you choose, images you drop into the page, and image data supplied through an explicit paste action. It does not scan your device's folders. Browser file and clipboard permissions remain controlled by your browser.

Privacy when contacting background remover support

If you send email using a contact link, your email provider and the receiving email service handle the message and its attachments. Send only the information needed to explain your question. You do not need to attach a private original image to report an editor error.

Image processing privacy questions and policy changes

For a privacy question, see the contact page. The date above identifies this policy version. Changes to hosting, model providers or application features may require a revised policy. For the editor's functionality and output limits, read the image editing terms of service and the local background remover FAQ.
