Background remover not working? Troubleshooting and support

If background removal is not working, start with the download, file size and export checks below. Include the exact error message when asking for help.

Fix a background remover stuck loading the AI model

For an initial model download, leave the tab open and check the progress message. If a network error appears, confirm that your connection can reach the model host and retry. If the tab runs out of memory, use a smaller image or a smaller batch. Refreshing resets the editing session, so download any finished results first.

Fix image size errors and failed batch processing

Choose an input no larger than 25 MB and 25 megapixels. The editor accepts up to 50 files while enforcing a 75-megapixel total session budget, so large photos can reach the limit before the file count does. Remove finished pictures after downloading them, or resize your source photos outside the editor and start a smaller batch. Phones may run out of memory below these limits.

Start with JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. Convert HEIC before adding it. The batch background remover and ZIP download guide explains how queued pictures are processed one at a time.

Fix a transparent PNG that looks white after download

Select Transparent in the editor and export PNG or WebP. JPG cannot preserve transparency; empty areas are flattened onto an opaque background. Some image viewers display transparent areas on white, so place the result over a colored slide or design before assuming transparency was lost. See the transparent PNG download guide for the export steps.

For missing edges, compare the image, try a tighter source crop or use the erase and restore brushes. For a plain white logo or green screen, the dedicated color-based tools can avoid the AI model download.

Contact support about a background removal error

The website operates under the name Picture Background Remover.

Include the page URL, your browser and device, the input format and dimensions, the exact error message, and the steps that led to it. A screenshot of the editor is often enough; avoid sending a private original photo.
